In 2010, a collection of fairy tales by Franz Xaver von Schönwerth was rediscovered. While Schönwerth is not a well-known name in our time, he was a contemporary of the Grimms and for that reason his works have historical relevance. The two fairy tale collectors incredibly different approaches to the collection and publishing of their tales. I endeavored to examine these differences and attempt to determine what impact they had on the tales we have available today. Additionally, I wished to translate several of von Schönwerth's tales into English as the vast majority of them can only be found in German. This website is the compilation of that work.
